If you want to use fresh elderberry, take one cup measurement of it. You will need two cinnamon sticks. For adding a sweet taste, take half a cup of honey. You will also need three cups water. Take a fine sieve for straining the syrup. You can also use a coffee filter or cheesecloth for this purpose.

Method Of Making Elderberry Syrup

Mix all the dry herbs and cinnamon in water and cook the solution on a slow flame. Let it cook for at least half an hour. Boil the solution till it becomes half in amount. Keep stirring in between regularly. Mash the elderberries with the help of a spoon. Let the water absorb the juice of the herb. Take the pan off from the flame. Pour the liquid on a fine sieve to separate it from the solid herbs and spices. After this, cool the solution for ten minutes. Add honey to the warm syrup for a better taste. Pour the liquid in a container made of glass. Secure with a lid and store the syrup. You can keep it in a refrigerator for two months.
