Small red raised areas on the edges of the eyelids are known as stye. They are a kind of infection. You can have infection of the sebaceous glands or apocrine glands. Depending on the gland affected you can have an external or an internal stye.
Though stye is generally painful in nature an internal stye is more uncomfortable than an external one. It contains pus, water and bacteria. Do not rupture the stye as it will spill out the pus and along with it the bacteria which will spread the infection. Though such eruptions start abruptly, they generally do not last long.
The maximum duration is 10 days. Such infections are generally brought while rubbing eyes with dirty hands. You can use medicines, but stye can be very well controlled at home. There are home remedies for stye. Let us look at some of these.
