If the causes cannot be treated easily, antibiotics may be required but in most of the cases relief can be obtained by some simple cures. The process of osmosis takes place when salt water comes in contact with the fluid filled organisms in the throat. The burning sensation is reduced as the inflammation is healed.
Honey is considered to have excellent medicinal values since ancient times. It has antiseptic and antibacterial properties. The low water activity causing osmosis, chelation of free ion, slow release of hydrogen peroxide and antibacterial activity of methyglyoxal in honey contribute towards it possessing antibacterial properties.
