Home Remedies For Anal Itch

Anal ItchAnal itching is known as pruritus ani or anustitis in medical terms. When the anus becomes severely inflamed, there is intolerable itching, burning sensation and soreness. Anal itching is not a disease in itself but rather a symptom of underlying causes such as hemorrhoids, constipation, diarrhea, bowel infection or cutaneaous lesions. Anal itching is more prevalent in males than in females and males above forty years of age are more prone to it.

The itching can also be exacerbated by external factors such as type of clothing worn, moisture levels and pressure and general rubbing of the anal area which cause excruciating pain. Many people suffer from an itchy bottom but very few people reveal it due to uncommon embarrassment. The itching varies in intensity and it can be paroxysmal or constant. The urge to scratch is always strong and persistent and can occur at anytime of the day or night. Most people experience it after going to the toilet especially if the stools are loose and watery.
