A dental cavity, also called dental caries, can grow deeper and bigger; and if not repaired early, it can cause excruciating toothache when small food particles get lodged in them. Sugar-free chewing gums are made with xylitol, which can forbid the build up of micro-organism in the mouth that causes cavity. So, chewing sugar free gum for 15-20 minutes after having meals will restrict the growth of bacteria and prevent cavity.
Chewing also helps to stimulate the saliva and flush out the debris. Also use tooth picks to remove the foods that have been stuck in between the teeth to prevent the cavities from developing.
