Garlic is one of the most effective toothache home remedy. Garlic contains a compound called Allicin that gives it antibiotic properties. Garlic also contains sulphur and potassium which makes it a natural pain relieving herb.

To cure toothache crush one pod of garlic, wrap it in a cotton ball and place it on the aching tooth. Garlic is very strong and can cause irritation in the gums; hence it should not be placed directly in mouth. Eat raw garlic with your meals everyday to prevent dental problems.

Clove provides instant relief from toothache. It helps to fight tooth decay, cavity formation and gum infections. Grind 5 cloves to make a fine powder, dissolve it in a glass of hot water and use it for gargles to relieve toothache. Dip a small piece of cotton in clove oil and apply it on aching tooth. It gives immediate relief and also prevents gum infection and pyorrhoea.

Raw onion contains anti bacterial properties. It has high amounts of sodium, vitamin E and B12. Chew a slice of onion for 2-3 minutes and let the juice get absorbed in affected area. Salt has pain relieving properties. Rock salt contains more medicinal value than common salt. For tooth ache, dissolve ½ tea spoon rock salt powder in one glass of warm water.

Take a sip of saline water and rotate it in your mouth for 1-2 minutes for fomentation. Spit out the water and repeat with the rest of the solution. Do this treatment twice a day to reduce toothache.

Lemon peel is an effective home remedy for toothache. Lemon contains rich amounts of vitamin C, which helps to strengthen the gums and teeth.
