Sometimes the larynx also gets inflamed due to overuse of the voice like screaming or shouting and sometimes smoke and other pollutants can also irritate the vocal chords. The vocal chords are elastic bands situated inside the larynx and when they vibrate voice is produced.

As age advances these vocal chords become loose and grow thinner so some hoarseness can also be attributed to this phenomenon. The main symptoms are a croaky and raspy voice, a sore and dry throat, coughing, difficulty in swallowing and pain in the throat.

Cloves

Cloves are very effective in alleviating the swelling and pain and restoring the voice back to normal. Cloves are very aromatic and their essential oils contain potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties which provide quick relief in the symptoms of laryngitis. Heat a griddle.

When the griddle is hot enough put some cloves onto it and roast them until they swell and puff up. Chew these roasted cloves as often as possible.

Black Pepper

Black pepper is full of healing and curative powers. This king of spices has remarkable anti-inflammatory and soothing qualities. It is rich in essential minerals and vitamins which have antioxidant properties and which bring about quick healing. Crush eight to ten pepper corns.

Heat half a teaspoon of ghee and add the pepper corns to it. Roast for half a minute then add some lump sugar to the mixture and eat it while it is still hot. Eat this, twice daily.

Turmeric simply abounds in antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties which not only reduce the swelling but also remove all the harmful toxins from the body. Heat one teaspoon of ghee.

Cinnamon

This sweet spice has great abilities to clear congestion, reduce the swelling and pain and alleviate the cough. Its antibacterial and antiseptic qualities effect quick healing. Take one teaspoon of freshly ground cinnamon and mix it in a glass of warm water. Stir in two teaspoons of honey and drink this mixture twice daily.

Ginger

Ginger is simply marvelous for curing innumerable diseases and ailments. Its antibiotic and anti-inflammatory properties remove infection and swelling and bring considerable relief in the hoarseness. Put to boil a cup of water.
