We are living in a world where stress is an integral part of our daily lives. Being a silent killer, the dangers of constant stress cannot be ignored at all. Stress can affect the body as well as mind and can lead to life threatening heart conditions that can be disastrous.
While there is nothing much that you can do in order to relieve yourself from stress, there are many things that can be done in order to reduce its effect on your body.
Exercises can help remove the stress hormones from your body and help with your immune system as well. Try some of these yoga exercises for complete relief from stress.
Yoga exercises for stress relief
Cobra pose helps relieve the stress in your body. For this, first lie on a comfortable yoga mat. Place your palms flat on the floor and put your forehead flat on the ground. Arms must be kept bent under your shoulders.
The next step is to push your upper body up with your palms pushing down against the ground. Raise your upper body as you move backwards and arch your back. Exhale thrice while you hold this position and then start lowering your upper body back to the floor. Repeat three times.
This pose has to be done while standing on all fours. Hands have to be kept straight and in the same line as your shoulders. Similarly, knees have to be in line with your hips. Now you can stretch your mid section downwards to the floor like a hammock, as you inhale.
Lift your head and look towards the ceiling. Pause at this point for a few seconds and slowly move your mid section away from the floor and lift it up towards the ceiling, rounding your back and moving your chin towards you chest. Hold for a few seconds and then come back to the normal position that you have started.
Twist involves lying on your back, looking straight up and extending your hands sideways. Keep your knees bent, bringing them close to your chest. Holding this position, inhale and slowly bring both your folded legs towards one side and keep them close to the floor, touching the floor if possible. Hold for a few seconds and inhale as you bring your legs back to the chest. Repeat 3 to 4 times.
Cat Hand Pose
Start by standing on all fours, hands in the same line as your shoulders and knees in line with your hips. While you inhale, bring your chin close to your chest and round your back upwards. Now, as you exhale, you can slowly bring your chest close to your thighs.
Bum should be lowered in the direction of the calves. The back must be kept rounded all throughout the pose. You can go back and forth with this pose, stopping in between to catch your breath. Continue 3-4 times.
Stress relieving exercises are great for your body, especially if you go through a lot of stress on a daily basis.
