5 Yoga For Depression

There are many positions in yoga which can make the body feel calm and secure and reduce the anxiety and depression. If yoga is correctly practiced, depression can be cured without any medication, unless it is very severe.

An hour or two of yoga per day, aimed at reducing depression along with the will to see all the positive things around us, plays a large role in reducing and even completely freeing you from depression. Since yoga is so useful, we mention five positions that are extremely effective in fighting depression away.

5 Various Yoga For Depression

Child Pose

This pose involves kneeling down and then bending your knees till your upper legs are resting on your lower legs. Then bend your body forward with your arms stretched upwards. Close your eyes and place your hands on the floor.

Combined with a calm mind, this position serves to relax and stretch the tensed muscles, which in turn fights against the symptoms of lethargy and depression. Do this for a few minutes every day to get rid of your depression.

Forward Bend

This is a simple pose that needs to be done slowly and carefully. You bend forward and touch the floor with your hands. Your body folds in half at the hips and your head reaches the level of your knee.

This is very useful in energizing your body and your mind which reduces the occurrence of depression. It also makes the blood of your body flowing within your limbs making you feel lighter and more positive about yourself and the world around you.

Legs up the Wall

This is another simple and relaxing pose for people to reduce all types of anxiety, stress and depression. The legs are stretched, forcing the muscles to make the blood flow smoothly throughout your body.

This results in your body feeling refreshed and your mind getting ample supply of blood. Both of these play a direct role in making you feel better. If done correctly for a few minutes every day, this can cure depression and help you lead a happy life.

Headstand

The headstand yoga pose is a slightly more expert pose and it requires some practice to do it correctly. The pose involves using your arms to support your neck and then resting the entire weight of your body on your head while keeping the body vertically upright but upside down.

The primary purpose of this pose is to make the muscles around the neck and the skull work and to help the brain release a chemical called dopamine which reduces depression effectively.

Back Bend

This is an extremely simple pose which concentrates on increasing circulation and muscular relaxation around the spine and the back. This causes stress to be released from the body and keeps the mind in an invigorated state.

 

Done correctly, this pose plays a major role in leading a happy, stress free and healthy life ensuring you that you, as well as the people around you are happy and positive about the lives they lead. Do this for fifteen minutes daily.

These yoga poses are all proven to be effective in reducing depression, and if done diligently and regularly, can completely keep depression symptoms under control allowing you to lead a happy and healthy life.
