Katha is the more widely used name for Acacia Catechu. It is used to treat a vast range of diseases. It has a special potency to stop bleeding. Take one teaspoon of katha paste. This paste is available at all paan shops. With a clean finger apply the paste on the swollen gums. See that the gums are properly coated with it. Keep for two minutes. Rinse the mouth with warm water. The bleeding in the gums will stop bringing immediate relief.

Alum is known for its antibacterial properties. Take half a teaspoon of alum powder and dissolve it in a glass of warm water. Rinse your mouth thrice a day. Guava is the most common and cheap fruit. It has antiseptic and healing qualities. The skin of this fruit contains more vitamin C than an orange. Roast a ripe guava on the fire. Eat it with the skin sprinkled with some salt and lemon juice. Wash and chew some guava leaves slowly. Let the juice penetrate the gums. The swelling will subside and bring instant relief.
