Best Ways To Treat Diaper Rash

Diaper RashDiaper rash refers to the inflamed skin found in the diaper region in infants and young children who wear diapers. This is one of the most common things that can happen to a kid. All kids experience diaper rash at some point or the other. Some important causes of diaper rash include leaving the wet and heavily soaked diapers on the baby for too long, friction and rubbing, pre-existing skin problems in the kid, use of antibiotics, allergies and infections.

The frequency of rashes may increase as baby grows as there could be increased wetting as well as instances of diarrhea.  The symptoms of diaper rash could be redness in the skin, dryness or shiny skin and pimply spots in the skin. Although a diaper rash can cause severe irritation and problems to a baby, it is not really serious if it is cured on time. It is possible to effectively cure diaper rash using some natural ways as follows:

Various Ways To Treat Diaper Rash

Keep The Area Clean And Dry

The best way to avoid the rashes is to keep the diaper area clean and dry. The bacterium that causes these rashes on the baby’s skin usually settles down on warm and also wet conditions.

Keep The Area Clean And Dry

Hence keeping the diaper area dry is the first thing you should do. Another thing to remember is that the diaper should not be very tight, as to stop the flow of air into it. If air circulation continues it will not allow the bacteria to settle.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is not only good for you, but is also good for your baby. It could be very beneficial in solving problems of diaper rash. Mixing equal measures of coconut oil with honey and applying to the rash area can give relief to your baby.

Coconut Oil

You can also mix Aloe Vera gel with coconut oil and apply this on the affected area. The result will be the same and there will be healing and soothing. Apply coconut oil with either honey or aloe vera atleast three times a day to witness the results.

Breast Milk

In addition to being a valuable source of energy and nutrients for your baby, breast milk also helps in healing diaper rash. After you remove the diaper and clean the baby, just dab the rash area with a little breast milk.

Breastfeed

Leave it in place for about 5-7 minutes. Then put on the new diaper. The natural healing properties will help in soothing the affected area.

Bathing

Bathe your baby in a tub full with warm water. Just add 2tbs of baking soda to it. This will definitely give relief and heal the rash faster. The same can be done with adding half a cup of vinegar to a tub of warm water.

Effective Natural Cures For Colic

Adding a cup of oatmeal to the warm water and mixing it well will also help give the baby relief from the rash. Keep the baby in this warm water for about 10 minutes.

Applications

Take 3-4 tsp of cornstarch and add to it 1 tsp of chamomile tea leaves. Mix it well, and apply this mixture to the rash of the baby. The healing qualities of both the cornstarch and chamomile act fast. The cornstarch will help to dry the skin and the chamomile will reduce the redness in the area.

Inflammation is also reduced in the area. Another application that heals very fast is milk of magnesia. Pour a little milk of magnesia on the affected area between diaper changes. It begins reacting almost immediately. When you change the diaper the next time, you will see that the rash has almost healed.
