Rest

Rest is the first and the most important remedy to get rid of a cough. In order to fight off an infection, it takes a lot of energy and thus if you take a rest, then it allows to recuperate slowly.

Diet

You must try to keep your body well hydrated, all the times, which will definitely help you in preventing the mucus from getting thicker. Sleeping Posture

You should take care to roll up a blanket and put it under the mattress in order to make the bed slightly inclined. You may also add a few drops of eucalyptus oil to the humidifier but you must take care to check at time with your doctor.
