How To Prevent Grey Hair

Share

Greying of hair occurs when the melanocyte cells in the hair follicles stop generating the melanin pigment which is responsible for giving the hair its natural colour. The hair follicles lose the melanin pigment in the course of time causing whitening of the hair. The white against the black hair gives the effect of grey.

Greying of hair is also a natural ageing process. There are a few natural methods to prolong the onset of hair greying although it cannot be stopped altogether. A Few of the natural methods are as follows.

Ways To Prevent Grey Hair

Amarnath Vegetable

Amaranth vegetable is a natural and an effective remedy for treating grey hair. You can mix the leaves of amaranth vegetable to get its leaf extract. Apply this leaf extract on the scalp and rinse it with warm water after a few minutes. This helps in retaining the natural hair colour. You can also boil the leaves of amaranth in water and use this water extract too.

Amla

Use of the amla (Indian gooseberry) is one of the most beneficial treatments for the greying of hair. It is a valuable hair tonic for hair pigmentation and for enriching hair growth as it has high vitamin C content.

Use the juice of amla mixed with almond oil to massage the scalp. Rinse your hair with warm water after keeping it for some time. This is a very natural and an effective method for turning grey hair to black hair.

Coconut Oil

Use of the coconut oil is an ancient and traditional method to massage the hair. This helps in improving blood circulation and also reduces greying of the hair. Make a mixture of equal quantities of lemon juice and coconut oil.

Apply this mixture on the scalp and rinse it with warm water after keeping it for 15 minutes. This will help with the healthy maintenance of your hair which in turn reduces the process of greying.

Black Raisins and Black Pepper

Have a glass of hot milk into which equal quantities of black raisins and black pepper are mixed first thing in the morning. This will help in reducing the greying process.

Having supplements rich in vitamin B and iron every day will help in increasing the melanin content. This in turn will help in reducing the greying process.

Curry Leaves

Curry leaves contain valuable nutrients, which help in preventing the malfunctioning of the hair follicles, thereby reducing the occurrence of grey hair:

Heat coconut oil into which few curry leaves are added for a few seconds. Apply this oil for massaging the scalp. Rinse your hair with warm water after keeping this for a few minutes. This will help in reducing the greying process.

Healthy Diet

Consume foods that are rich in vitamin A, iron, and minerals. Sources that are rich in these nutrients are yogurt, tomatoes, cereals, green vegetables, cauliflower, and yellow fruits. Having these foods will help in keeping your hair healthy and glowing. In general, proper care of the hair, a healthy and balanced diet, and managing stress will help you to maintain the natural hair colour.
