Most people have experienced clogged ears at least once during their lifetimes. Clogged ears that affect both adults and kids refer to a common condition that is caused by different factors. These include cold, ear allergies, variation in air pressure and infections.
Though clogged ears are quite common, they can occasionally cause pain. For this reason, it is crucial to treat the condition. While opting for medications is a good way to treat clogged ears, you can also opt for a completely natural solution to treat the condition–yoga. Here are few yoga poses you can try out, in case you are suffering from clogged ears.
Various Fitness Tips For Clogged Ears
Adhomukha svanasana can be a great exercise for reducing the symptoms associated with clogged ears. For doing it, you need to stand straight. Now, by keeping your feet firmly on the mat, push down the upper part of your body in such a way so that a V shape is formed.
Ensure that your head touches the floor, with the arms resting beside it. Stay in this position for few moments and later, go back to your original position in a slow manner.
This is a low impact exercise that stretches lower part of the body, relaxes the nervous system and reduces pain. However, since this is an inversion exercise, you should avoid it if you are pregnant or suffer from high blood pressure. Also, for doing this exercise, using a prop (blanket or pillow) is important, especially if you are a beginner.
Start by placing the pillow against the wall. Now, lie down in such a way so that your hips are placed on the prop. Also, push your legs in a 90 degree angle. However, make sure that backs of your legs touch the walls and your toes face upwards. Try to stay in this position and after few seconds, bring down your legs.
Setu Bandha Sarvangasana
For doing Setu Bandha Sarvangasana, first lie down on your back. Now, bend your knees and push your hips and upper legs in such a way so that they are lifted 3-4 inches above the ground.
While doing this exercise, you should place your arms beside your body. Try to stay in this position for 20-30 seconds and thereafter, move back to the original position.
Though pranayama is a breathing exercise, it is effective in reliving symptoms associated with plugged ears. It can be added here that among pranayama exercises, bhramari pranayama can be especially beneficial for those suffering from clogged ears. For doing it, sit straight and try to concentrate with your eyes closed.
Now, put index fingers on the cartilage that connects your ears with the cheek (it’s located in the ears). Next, inhale and when you exhale, put slight pressure on the cartilage. At the same time, make a loud sound. Repeat the procedure for 4-5 times.
All these exercises are effective for getting relief from clogged ears. Still, for staying on the safe side, consult a doctor before opting for any of these exercises.
