Loss of hair can cause a lot of stress to any individual. It is mostly men who suffer from hair loss; however, hair loss among women is becoming noticeable nowadays. Loss of 50-100 hair per day is considered normal, but visible hair thinning and baldness has been often a cause of concern.
There are many causes of hair loss such as hereditary, excessive stress, the side-effect of undergoing medical treatments, etc. There are many ways to cure hair loss; however, home remedies provide a cheaper and time proven alternative to get rid of the hair-loss problem.
Ways To Prevent Hair Fall
Mustard Oil And Henna
Procure 100 grams of henna leaves, wash and dry thoroughly. Measure out 250 grams of good-quality mustard oil. Place these ingredients in a saucepan and mix well. Heat this mixture on the stove until it starts boiling. Cool the oil up to the room temperature or up to slightly warm.
Take the oil on your fingertips and massage all over your scalp covering each area thoroughly. Ensure you gently massage the root tips to invigorate them. Allow the oil to stay in your hair for a few hours at the minimum. Apply at least once a week to see a significant effect in due course.
Egg yolk is full of nutrients that will strengthen your hair and make it healthy. Separate the white from the yolk. Use a fork or whisk to beat the yolk for a few seconds. If you have bald patches or areas of thinning hair, apply the yolk in such areas.
Let it stay in the hair for about an hour. Wash your hair thoroughly. You will see a significant difference in the luster and texture of your hair with regular egg yolk application.
Olive Oil And Cumin
The mixture of olive oil and cumin has proven to be efficacious in reducing hair loss. Grind a teaspoon of cumin seeds and soak overnight in olive oil.
Mix the ground cumin and oil and apply to areas of the scalp experiencing excessive hair loss. Gently massage the hair follicles. Let this stay on the scalp for half an hour and then wash out thoroughly.
Apply Essential Oil
Essential oils also help in increasing growth of new hair. Massaging these oils into your hair followed by wrapping your hair with a hot towel makes the hair lustrous and healthy.
One such mixture of essential oils can be made by mixing 6 drops each of lavender oil and bay oil with almond oil (approximately 4 ounces).
Try Licorice, Lemon, And Onion
A paste made by grinding licorice into milk helps in increasing hair growth, as per Ayurveda. Another effective paste to cure baldness is the mixture of lemon and pepper seeds.
Onion juice is another remedy to prevent hair loss and premature graying of hair. Grate onion after peeling it and apply thoroughly to your scalp. Leave in the hair roots for a couple of minutes and then rinse out with water.
Use Mild Shampoo
Another tip to improve the quality of hair is to use a mild shampoo if you are used to washing your hair daily. Use products which suit your hair type, specifically. Avoid treating your hair with too much chemical laden products as they lead to long-term damage and irreversible harm.
Wavy or curly hair is more prone to damage and dryness; people with such hair should avoid excessive application of heat or styling products on their hair.
Keep Your Hair Always Clean
Hygiene is very important while taking care of your hair. Always ensure your hair is clean and dry. Damp, dirty hair is an ideal breeding ground for fungal infections. Other remedies also include massaging your scalp/hair roots for 5 minutes every day. These increase the blood circulation to your hair follicles and rejuvenate hair growth.
Consume Green Vegetables
A diet, including lots of leafy and green vegetables works internally to promote hair growth. Another combination is drinking a glass of the juice of spinach and lettuce or alfalfa juice mixed with carrot juice.
Herbs That Promote Hair Growth
Rosemary, marigold, Arnica and southernwood reduce hair loss, which can commonly be grown in a pot or kitchen garden. Create an infusion of these herbs in almond oil by soaking these herbs in the oil and massage the scalp with this infusion. Another herb containing a good percentage of silica is Horsetail, which also adds luster to the hair.
Horsetail belongs to the same family as the fern and has been known as a herbal remedy for long. For application in hair, add hot water to 2 tablespoons of horsetail, allow it to be steep for some time and add it to the mild shampoo you use. You must remember that horsetail is not recommended for use if you are taking dioxin for heart issues, phenytoin for seizures or anti clotting medicines. It is recommended to refer to your physician before using any herbal remedy.
