The nasal passages are lined with mucous membranes and when these membranes become swollen due to colds, flu, sinusitis and other bacterial and viral infections, they cause uncomfortable symptoms like headaches, facial pain, pressure in the ears and pain in the jaws.
Breathing through the nose becomes impossible so you have to continually breathe through the mouth. This causes dryness in the mouth and throat and which becomes extremely irritating and annoying.

Black pepper is very pungent and very aromatic. It has a host of medicinal values which are very valuable for treating a wide range of diseases and disorders.
It is full of antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties which eradicate the infection and bring relief in the swelling. Put to boil a cup of water. Add five crushed pepper corns to it and boil for two minutes. Stir in two teaspoons of honey and drink this hot tea slowly, three times daily.
Heat some mustard oil. Add some camphor to it and massage your chest, sides of the neck and the shoulders with it. Massage well and thoroughly for fifteen minutes. Mustard oil has anti-inflammtory and heat producing properties which not only reduce the swelling but also help to decongest the mucous and unblock the airways. Heat one teaspoon of ghee and add four minced cloves of garlic to it. Stir for half a minute the turn off the heat.
Eat this hot mixture just before going to bed. Do not drink water or any other liquid after eating it. The nasal blockage will clear up and you will be able to sleep comfortably.
