Scabies is a highly infectious disease caused by a type of mite that burrows in the human skin. The condition causes itchy, painful and red rashes all over the body and can spread fast through skin-to-skin contact. Therefore, it is very essential to control the infection as soon as it surfaces.

The normal affected areas like the buttocks, fingers, knees, creases of the breast etc. look red and itchy and are mostly misdiagnosed as some type of skin infection or allergy. Scabies can be easily treated at home, though in some cases, you still require medical attention to completely eliminate the infection.

Tips To Cure Scabies In Humans Naturally

1. Cold Soak

A cold soak is a quick way to relieve the intense itching and pain and prevent the infection from spreading through itching. Sometimes the itching can be uncontrollable. In such cases, apply an ice cube on the affected areas so that the itching and pain will be numbed for some time. However, this will only offer temporary relief and you always have to look for a solid remedy when the itching and pain are brought under control.

2. Garlic

A great antibacterial agent and very strong so that it can help remove the actual mites that cause the infection, garlic works in two ways. First, it acts on the infection and prevents further infections from setting in. Frequent application of garlic paste will also smother the microscopic mites and prevent its action on the skin.

Continuous application of garlic and internal consumption will help in treating scabies effectively. Take garlic extract and apply on the affected area. Along with that, you can also take 3-4 cloves of garlic every day for internal action. Make sure that you apply garlic for 3 days on the skin and leave a gap of two days before continuing in order to prevent the skin from burning.

3. Clove Oil

Clove too has anti microbial and anti inflammatory properties and hence a great remedy for treating scabies. Clove oil can be applied on the affected areas of the skin for instant relief from itching and pain. However, clove oil could be very strong and cause burning on the skin. In such cases, dilute it with a little olive oil and apply on the skin. You can also crush a clove and add some olive oil or water and apply o the affected area.

4. Onion

What makes onion a wonder remedy for scabies is the presence of quercetin which helps in the soothing of the affected skin. Quercetin, along with the presence of sulphur compounds in onion help in treating and eradicating the scabies and the mites on the skin and prevent the infection from spreading to others as well.

Take a medium sized onion and grate it in the mixer. The juice can be applied on the scabies affected skin and left on for the entire day. Ensure that you reapply the juice every few hours for best results. Soon the skin will get back to normalcy and the mites will be removed as well.

5. Lavender Oil

Essential oils are very strong and can repel mites and other microscopic organisms in the body. Lavender essential oil is a home remedy that can be used for treating scabies and for reviving the skin as well. Take adequate amounts of lavender essential oil and add some olive oil to this. This can be used for application on the rashes. Allow the lavender oil to exert its action on the infection and the mites. Reapply as and when needed and continue application until all the mites are destroyed and the scabies is taken care of.

6. Aloe Vera

This cooling gel is also a great anti bacterial agent and helps in healing and regenerating the skin, along with the removal of mites from the skin surface. Apply freshly acquired aloe gel from the aloe plant and leave it on. The thick gel can mask the action of the mites on the skin and destroy them completely. Once the infection is taken care of, the skin too will be repaired under the efficient care of aloe gel.

7. Tea Tree Oil

Strongly antiviral and also very acidic in nature, tea tree oil will destroy the mites due to its strong acidic action and also help the skin to heal as well, thereby treating the infection and also the damage caused to the skin. Apply tea tree oil after diluting it with olive oil to reduce its strength. Leave a thin coat on the affected skin and nearby areas to prevent the mites from spreading to other areas of the skin.

8. Margosa Oil

Margosa oil is regularly used in the treatment of several skin conditions like acne, eczema etc. The oil helps in reducing scratching and pain and is also great for removing the dust mites due to its antibacterial and anti fungal properties. Take fresh margosa leaves and grind it to form a smooth paste. Apply on the infected skin and leave it in for a few hours.

9. Sulphur

Sulphur is great for healing the skin and can be used for treating scabies as well. Take one tablespoon of sulphur and nine tablespoons of petroleum jelly. Mix well and apply on the scabies affected skin. The jelly helps in smothering the mites and the sulphur works on the infection and heals the skin.

10. Neem Oil

Neem oil is strongly antiviral in nature and also helps the skin to heal from the infection caused due to scabies. Neem oil can be applied on the scabies affected skin and massaged into the skin for better action. Neem leaves can also be boiled along with water and used for rinsing the area frequently.

Grind the neem leaves to form a paste and apply a tick coat on the affected skin. This too can help in removing the mites from the skin and clear the skin off the infection. Neem paste can be used along with turmeric paste to increase its strength and also to protect the skin form blemishes and scars.
