Chamomile

Chamomile known to be the elixir of several ailments has a few positive benefits for red eyes too. Prepare a tea with chamomile by adding one teaspoon of chamomile to one cup of water and boil, once it is boiled remove from heat and allow it to rest for ten minutes, so that the healthy ingredients are infused well.

Now, the tea is ready to be sipped. This tea can be used internally to drink and externally you can use the tea as a warm compress by placing it directly on the eye, which is red. This is a very effective herbal remedy.

Golden seal is known for its healing powers in treating several issues. Berberine is a compound found in this native medicinal herb, which helps in compressing the blood vessels, which in turn helps in decreasing the bloodshot color of the eye. Golden seal can be used as a wash or as a compress to treat this condition.

The raspberry leaves contain high amounts of vitamins and other essential nutrients, hence using this herb is beneficial in the treatment of red eyes. Take a few raspberry leaves and brew a tea or prepare a juice with it. Take a piece of cloth or a cotton swab, immerse it in this mix, and gently apply it in the eye, which is affected.

Allow the cloth to remain on the eye for about ten to twenty minutes. Do this at least thrice every day.  When you do this regularly, it helps in recovering from redeye quickly. You can also use raspberry fruits in case you do not find raspberry leaves, but the leaves are more efficient.

Gingko biloba is a herb which helps in treating bloodshot eye. This herb helps in treating redeye by improving the supply of oxygen to the cornea.

Eyebright is another excellent herb, which is used as an herbal remedy to treat redeye. This herb is known to be much more effective than any other medicated eye drops. Take one teaspoon of eyebright, and add one cup of water to it.

Immerse a piece of cloth in it and gently apply it on the affected eye for about fifteen to twenty minutes. Repeat this if required.
