Earache is a pretty common problem which can affect children as well as adults. When the internal structures of the ear like the ear drum, middle ear and the external auditory canal get inflamed it results in earache. When bathing or swimming, the moisture gets trapped in the ear canal and it causes pain and swelling.
The moisture also provides a perfect breeding ground for bacteria which thrive in moist, warm environment and cause infection. Often while cleaning the ear with cotton tipped swab or any other object the skin in the ear canal gets abraded or injured and this too can result in pain.
Other common causes for earache are a severe common cold, blockage in the nasal passage, smoke exposure and genetics. The pain develops gradually and increases in intensity. There can be a thick drainage from the ear, a blocked sensation, buzzing sounds in the ear and itching.
Onion relieves the pain quickly and efficiently. This vegetable has been endowed with endless healing and curative powers which address a wide range of diseases and ailments.
Onion has potent antiseptic, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties which not only reduce the swelling but also kill the infection causing bacteria. Grate one big onion and tie it in a piece of clean cotton cloth. Hold the sachet over the aching ear for ten minutes.
Garlic is the best remedy for earache. Its antibiotic and pain relieving properties will make the pain as well as any infection subside rapidly. Heat some sesame oil and when it is quite hot turn off the heat. Put a clove of garlic into the hot oil.
When the oil cools hold the clove of garlic over the infected ear and squeeze it so that the drop of oil will fall directly into the ear. Put three to four drops into the ear. Use this remedy three times daily.
Radish is full of medicinal properties that are very beneficial for curing and healing innumerable diseases and ailments.
Its detoxifying and cleansing properties provide immediate relief in the earache. Chop a piece of radish finely and warm it on the fire in some mustard oil. When the mixture cools take a dropper and drop a few drops of the oil into the ear.
Warm some olive oil and put a few drops of it into the aching ear. You can use a dropper to put the oil into the ear canal. Olive oil will reduce the swelling and will also dislodge any accumulated wax and help it surface in the ear canal so that you can remove it easily. It will also keep the ear well lubricated and stop the buzzing in the ear.
Take some fresh peppermint leaves and grind them. Squeeze the mass to extract the juice. With the help of a dropper put a few drops of the juice into the aching ear. The antiseptic, antibacterial and antiviral properties of peppermint will make the pain go away very swiftly.
