Our skin is made up of two major layers namely the epidermis which is the top most layer and the dermis which is situated below the epidermis. Peeling of skin occurs at the epidermis level. Our skin is replaced by a new layer every 28 days but due to certain conditions like over exposure to UV or sun’s rays, toxic chemicals and weather conditions, our skin can peel faster than usual. Sun burns are the main cause for peeling skin syndrome and that challenges the hydration level of your skin.

Other causes for peeling of skin could be allergies, rashes, certain skin infections, and eczema. Peeling skin syndrome can be accompanied by other symptoms such as weight loss, fatigue, fever and loss in diet. These symptoms could be related or non-related but peeling skin is usually a symptom of certain diseases.
